Overview

Urban Learning Centers, (ULC), an initiative of the Urban Education Partnership, is a comprehensive school reform services provider that helps transform high-need urban schools. ULC works in close partnership with educators, parents and community members to help schools raise and sustain student achievement.

Comprehensive School Reform

Urban Learning Centers is one of only seven school improvement designs approved by New American Schools, a nonprofit nationally recognized for its leadership in education reform and as having met federal guidelines for comprehensive school reform. The ULC model is comprehensive in its focus on three components that have consistently been demonstrated to positively impact student achievement:

ULC tailors these components based on each school's needs, priorities and goals.

Background

The Urban Learning Centers model was developed by the Urban Education Partnership in collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District and United Teachers Los Angeles in 1992. Since its inception, the ULC design has been successfully implemented at more than 70 elementary, middle and high schools in California, Georgia, Oregon and Utah. ULC schools across the country have received national recognition for improvements in student achievement and community involvement.
