Cristina Bertrand and Cynthia D`Agosta are organizing VISIONS OF THE LOS ANGELES RIVER, a day of rediscovery and celebration of the Los Angeles River, Saturday, November 22 at El Pueblo Gallery on Olvera Street and
La Plaza of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument.

Conferences and seminars will present historical, geographical, artistic, and literary perspectives on rivers in general and the Los Angeles River in particular.
Finally, ethnic food and entertainment will provide a festive celebration during which individuals and the entire family can learn about, celebrate and enjoy the river.
The day of celebration will take place the 22nd of November, Saturday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The exhibit at El Pueblo Gallery will be open to the public from the 22nd of November until the 31st of December, 1997.

UNOFFICIAL ART PROJECTS
Cats are visible on drain covers from the 5 freeway! In recent years drivers along the Golden State Freeway, north of Los Feliz have been able to view storm drain covers that have been painted with cat faces.
These cats have escaped the taggers. But unfortunately many more drain covers are now covered with graffitti.
Continue the tour here. So batten down your hard drives and cover your keyboards. The adventures of the urban river awaits you. Good Luck and remember, don't drink the water!
