| Yucca whipplei is a member of the Agave family. It is more commonly known as Our Lord's Candle. Its flower stalk can grow from 4 to 8 feet high. It has a basal rosette of spine-tipped sword like leaves. Its white flowers sometimes are tinged with purple. When roasted the young stalks taste like apples. Its roots contain saponin, which when soaked can supply a large amount of suds. Its relationship with the Yucca moth is a classic example of symbiosis. | |
