| This is Ceanothous spinous also known as Greenbark. It is member of the Buckthorn or Rhamnaceae family. There are six species of Ceanothous in the Santa Monica Mountains. Greenbark has a one veined leaf, branchlets and flowers that are white to pale blue. It can grow from 6-18 feet tall. Its smooth olive green bark helps to identify it. |
