Acorn Scrub Oak




This is a scrub oak. It is also known as Quercus dumosa. It is a member of the family Fagaceae. In this family this is the only shrub. Scrub oaks have warty scales and leaves that are 3/4 to 2 inches in length, when cleft they are sharply serrated.
