Show What You Know (Build An Ecological Pyramid)
by Millard Nobumoto

We have been studying ecology for several days and by now I'm sure you have learned a lot. This assignment is very open ended and can be done in many ways. Just show me some things you have learned.

Directions:

  1. Cut out the pyramid template.
  2. Use glue sticks and attach to a piece of cardboard or manilla folder.
  3. Think about things you have learned about ecology and illustrate them
Examples could include: food chains and webs
    "pyramids of energy and biomass"
    biomes
    trophic levels
  4. Use, words, drawings, magazine photos to illustrate your ideas.
  5. Make it colorful and eyecatching.
  6. When you have completed filling out each side of your pyramid cut it out, "score" each fold (dotted line). Tie a foot long piece of thread to a dowel position it so that it will be inside your pyramid when it is glued with the thread coming out of the very top. Add glue to the tab and glue your pyramid together.
  7. Write your name and period number inside the pyramid.
  8. With your pyramid turn in a piece of paper with an explanation of ecological idea each side of your pyramid illustrates.
