Experiment Observing Chrysalid

Materials Chrysalids in box

Things I did and things I discovered Butterflies are the most beautiful things I ever saw. We have 5 that just came out of their crysalids. The other chysalids are still hanging in the light. I watched one coming...

...out. First it was moving and moving. Then the chrysalid split and I saw a wing and the antenna coming out. After a while the whole butterfly come out. Some kids thought that blood came out. But it was the color for the wing. The butterfly kept flapping its wings to dry them to make them colorful.

Experiment Observing Butterfly Larvae

Materials Larvae, cup of food, cm ruler

Things I did and things I discovered Mrs. K brought some larvae to our class. They were Painted Lady caterpillars. We put them into a little cup of food. Mine was 2 cm long. It ate the food. Three days latter it had gotten bigger. It was almost 3 cm long. I called him Prickly. I picked him up with a paint brush.
