There are many ways in which parents can guide, motivate and assist their children in their education. The home provides a marvelous opportunity to create a warm environment to investigate and experience science concepts. The following is a list of suggestions:
1. Provide encouragement by showing an interest in your child's education. Share and discuss science articles, science books and other science materials with your child. Review and supervise homework. Ask questions concerning homework assignments.
2. Be an active observer. Share your observations with your child. Learning and discovering together will provide opportunities to understand science concepts with your child.
3. Create a home environment conducive to learning. Have a designated area for your child to work on homework, school projects, and science experiments.
4. Supply your child with the needed materials: such as pencils, scissors, magnifying glass, crayons, dictionaries, science books, etc. Child will be able to work independently.
5. Go out for family outings. Visit museums, zoo, parks, observatory, places where your child can be stimulated to learn about science.
