Target Science

The Target Science Teacher Network program seeks to boost student learning and achievement in science in Los Angeles by improving the quality of instruction and building the leadership capacity of science teachers.   More than 360 teachers serving 30,000 plus students participate in Initiative activities offering professional development and support, training in the use of technology, and leadership development.  Teachers also have access to workshops and other opportunities to strengthen content knowledge and instructional skill, and to develop strategies for helping students to meet state standards for science.  Participating teachers also have access to online lessons and resources, and teacher networks provide collegial support for science teachers in the Los Angeles area. University professors, subject experts and teacher-leaders provide professional development.
