"I have a voice too, and I intend on using it...My involvement in Sylmar Neighborhood Partnership has made it possible...My voice not only echoed through the walls of our meeting place but throughout my community. The feeling of accomplishment ran through my veins...and I was proud."

Matthew Moor, one of Sylmar's12th Grade students in the Public Service SLC and a College Summit Peer Leader, wants you to know that he and his peers "should not be leaders of tomorrow, but today." In his recent scholarship application essay, he reflected on a life changing moment inspired by a Humanitas teacher, his journey in finding his own voice, and his plan to inspire other young people to find their voices too. Check out his essay by reading on!
