Directions for Storing Values into Variables
Follow the directions below to store in values for variables from your graph. The example shown below is an excellent way to find the slope of a line without rounding off the values.
Trace along the plot until you find a point to use as
(x1, y1)
Press 2nd Quit to go to the homescreen. Since you have not moved the cursor press X STO ALPHA C ENTER, repeat the same for the Y-value.
Go back to the graph and repeat the process for
(x2, y2)
This is what would show on the homescreen when you are finished storing the four values.
Use the slope formula with the variables that you stored. Store into "m" to represent slope.
You can repeat the process to find the y-intercept. Trace to the x-value of 0 and store that y-value in for "b".
Anytime that you are dealing with many decimals places and you do not want to round off, STORE the values in for variables and then just use those letters in place of the values.
