Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC) is a professional organization, founded in 1977, for museum educators, teachers, docents, and other individuals interested in the theory and practice of education in museums. Over the course of its nineteen-year existence, MESC has undertaken many programs and served southern California museum educators in a variety of ways including professional development, theoretical discourse, practical training and networking. Its members strive to enhance the visitor's ability to understand and appreciate museums - their objects, exhibits and resources - and to transfer the joy of discovery and learning to other areas of their lives.
