Six model Humanitas SLCs periodically open their doors to guide visitors through their schools.
Goal: You will see how all of the component parts of effective small school planning are manifest in engaging and rigorous learning environments for students.
Outcome: Small groups of teachers visit multiple classes to better understand the logistics, structure, and expectations of teaching in Humanitas. Observers will visit multiple grade-levels and disciplines, interact with teachers and students, and gain an appreciation for the work needed to sustain a Humanitas SLC.
Audience: Interested teachers, administrators, and community members who would like to see Humanitas in action. Visits are limited to no more than 5 and no fewer than 2 observers.
At a Demo Site Visit, you will:
- Spend the school day visiting several classroom highlighting Humanitas instruction
- Interact with a student panel
- Debrief with members of the Humanitas faculty
Format: One day, 8am to 3pm, at a school site
While details vary from school to school, you can typically expect morning coffee, lunch, and promotional materials. Reservations must be made in advance. Substitute coverage is the responsibility of the attendee.
