"Humanitas" describes four things:
- An instructional model, in which teachers develop thematic, interdisciplinary units to engage their students
- A network of teachers in LAUSD who collaborate and attend professional development to refine their craft
- The identity of over 40 SLCs and small schools in LAUSD
- A branch of a non-profit that supports the work of these teachers
Our Funders
Humanitas is supported by a variety of corporate and family foundations, such as the Ahmanson Foundation, Stuart Foundation, Lumina Foundation, JP Morgan Chase, Sidney Stern Foundation, Norris Foundation, and Van Nuys Foundation.
Humanitas partners closely with LAUSD to ensure a close alignment between UEP and LAUSD priorities. Historically, LAUSD has supported Humanitas with paid time for teachers to collaborate and attend Humanitas professional development.
