Family Care—Community Health Education

Family Care health promoters participate in community dental and health fairs—providing outreach and education to more than 1,000 adults and children in the community.

They conduct workshops at more than 20 schools in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, educating hundreds of parents about stress management, effective discipline, asthma and immunization, sexual health, dental health, and nutrition.

In addition to the topics the workshop titles suggest, these workshops also educate families on challenging issues such as child abuse and domestic violence, how to understand & manage anger, communication for healthy relationships, and assertive solutions to difficult family issues.
