"Principal for a Day" Event Builds New Bridges Between the Entertainment Industry and Public Schools in Los Angeles On April 30, 1999, more than 200 entertainment, business and community leaders got a hands-on lesson in the realities of public education in Los Angeles as they became "Principals for a Day." These "principals" fanned out to schools across the Los Angeles Unified School District -- most having a wonderful experience interacting with teachers, administrators and most of all, students.
