June 1998 California State Ballot Measures

SHOULD THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA require public school districts to spend at least 95 percent of all school revenues on direct services to pupils, school site employees, and school facilities?

Should the permission of employees or union members be required to withhold wages or union dues for political contributions? Should foreign contributions to state and local candidates be prohibited?

Should state law require that English be the language of instruction for all students in California public schools with some specified exceptions?

To help you decide how to vote on these important issues we have provided links to non-partisan analyses of these ballot measures from the 1998 California Primary Election Voter Information Guide/Ballot Pamphlet, from the League of Women Voters and selected Web sites that offer pro and con arguments for each intiative.
