Bilingual Education: Help or Hinderance?

Bilingual education -- when students learn basic skills in their native language -- is once again the topic of heated debate. Proponents call it necessary, pointing out that 40 percent of students across the country who have difficulty speaking English never complete high school. Opponents say bilingual ed has been a failure and that it's expensive and potentially isolating for students.
