| 315 West Ninth Street, Suite 1110 Los Angeles, CA 90015 213-622-5237 FAX 213-629-5288 Email: target@lalc.k12.ca.us | The goal of SMART Telecommunications is to support teachers of science and math in their use of telecommunications as a tool for building teacher networks, enhancing the learning of science and math, and providing information and resources beyond local availability for use in the classroom. Training sessions provide teachers with knowledge of how to use telecommunications and the Internet to retrieve data, to participate in interactive inquiry activities; to discuss ideas with community experts and other teachers; and to share information and resources. A special emphasis is placed on integrating telecommunications technology into classroom instruction. SMART on-line content on the LALCNet telecommunications network includes the SMART Catalog, in addition to science and math lessons and teacher-created sites such as the Los Angeles River Virtual Tour.
