The Jet Propusion Laboratory, the leading NASA center for planetary exploration, is an operational division of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) which performs research, development, and related activities for NASA, its major sponsor. The Educational Affairs Office manages the JPL Teaching Resource Center, organized to increase educators' awareness of NASA/JPL missions and projects. The TRC is located near JPL where teachers can obtain curriculum guides, posters, NASA/JPLFact sheets, lithographs, software, videotapes, and other free aids and materials and participate in JPL-sponsored student-and teacher-training workshops. JPL also offers teacher training programs, educator conferences, and other education services. The Public Services Office provides tours for junior and senior high schools, a Speakers Bureau, special events, and volunteer services to schools.
