More than 1,200 animals make their home in the Los Angeles Zoo. A new exhibit, Chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountains, opening August 13, 1998 presents chimpanzees in a naturalistic savannah/forest habitat and explains logging's effect on chimpanzees and other African wildlife. The Los Angeles Zoo is an exciting field trip destination, serves as a teacher resource center with workshops and curriculum materials to support science teaching in the classroom, and can become a catalyst for language development programs, creative writing efforts, and interdisciplinary curriculum projects. Call the Zoo's education department at 323-644-6400 to learn more about our educational services.
