It is visited by nearly two million people each year, which is almost half the annual attendence of Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Parks. The Observatory is a non-profit educational institution whose purpose is to provide the public with information on astronomy and related sciences. Special morning planetarium shows are offered to school groups during the academic year at a fee of $1.00 per person, and reservations are required.
