Placerita Canyon Park is part of the Los Angeles County network of Natural Areas dedicated to the preservation of the natural world and public education about resource preservation. The park contains more than eight miles of hiking trails, many with printed trail guides and signs for infrequent visitors. A small museum is dedicated to local and ecological topics and features displays of live animals, including hawks, snakes, turtles, and tarantulas. For school groups with prior reservations, docents offer weekday programs about the natural history of the park. On Saturdays, a guided nature hike is given at 11 a.m. and an animal show at 1 p.m.. There is an entry fee of $3.00 for cars and $6.00 for busses or vehicles with trailers.
