The District strives to educate the public, particularly in urban areas, on conservation of renewable and non-renewable resources. Through classroom and field experience, students and teachers gain an understanding of how behaviors and attitudes ultimately affect the preservation of our natural resources. The District conducts a wide variety of educational programs for schools, school districts, and teachers in greater Los Angeles. These include outdoor environmental education and field study programs, science-based classroom programs, and teacher workshops, as well as training programs in resource restoration projects for naturalists and volunteers.
