Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA) is an educational, recreational and research institution devoted for over sixty years to promoting knowledge and awareness of Southern California marine life. Located next to sandy beaches, rocky shores and mudflat habitats, the Aquarium has the largest collection of Southern California marine life on exhibit in the world with 15,000 gallons of sea water circulating through the aquarium's 35 live exhibits, outdoor touch tank, and sea water laboratories. Through its exhibits and educational programs, the aquarium emphasizes the diversity, adaptations, and ecological relationships of local marine life and encourages public and school participation through volunteer training, daily exhibit tours, marine science workshops, ocean outreach classes, teacher workshops, whalewatching boat trips, and night-time grunion programs.
