California Institute for School Boards

With its inaugural class scheduled to begin in spring 2005, the California Institute for School Boards will provide newly elected or appointed urban school board members with a balanced educational program that focuses on the theory and quality of practice of well functioning urban school districts in California. The institute will also address the policy-level roles and responsibilities of school board members.

The faculty will include stimulating practitioners, policymakers, and researchers from California and the nation who will present a non-partisan perspective, with a clear acknowledgement of the pros and cons of various district improvement strategies.
