The painting "Curandera" is a beautiful painting. The painting consist of a woman who is a curandera with plants growing through her body. In front of the curandera is a person kneeling down. The person has a green body and tears coming out of its eye. Their are other symbols around the painting such as a hovering face with wings. The hovering face is at the left hand corner of the painting and seems to be looking down at them. Their are plants and flowers growing around the painting. There are also diamond shaped objects, coming out of the curandera's hands, and hearts with faces inside her body. There is also what seems to be a shape of a person beneath her.
All of these symbols have significant meaning. The plants growing through her body represent what she uses to cure people. The hovering face with wings represents an angel who gives the curandera her powers. The person beneath her represents her ancestor or someone who passed on the knowledge on how to be a curadera. The small green figure represents someone who is being cured by the curadera. The painting is filled with plants and flowers because most curaderas use theme to make medicine. The three hearts symbolizes the lives the curadera has saved, and the diamonds shaped objects represents the power the curandera is giving.
This symbols are important because if they weren't there, people wouldn't get what the curadera is all about. When most people hear the word curadera the first thing that pops in their head is witch, but that's not so. The truth is curaderas cure people not hurt people. That's what they tried to show in this painting.
