Is the Internet Good for Kids?

THIS WEEK (SEPTEMBER 14-20) is National Kids Online Week. A coalition of industry, government, education organizations, libraries and other public interest groups are coming together to Launch "America Links Up" a national campaign to ensure that kids have a safe and rewarding experience online.

The America Links Up campaign and National Kids Online Week was created because the Internet is becoming an important and necessary part of children's lives. There are currently 16 million kids online and that number is expected to increase to 30 million within four years. The Internet needs to be a safe, educational, and enjoyable place for kids.

During the America Links Up campaign and National Kids Online Week campaign participants will foster the education of parents, teachers and other caregivers about effective, affordable and easy-to-use tools and tips that will empower them to guide children online.
