Academic Standards
Do we need them? Across the nation, from the schoolhouse to the oval office, everyone is tallking about standards. In almost every state, efforts are underway to establish or improve content standards for what students should know and be able to do. Learn about the development of standards and what they should look like by reading Statewide Academic Standards, a position paper by the Association of California School Administrators. Get the latest information on the standards movement in Making Standards Matter, the American Federation of Teachers recently released analysis of efforts to develop improved academic standards in all 50 states. Developing Educational Standards is a red-hot website with great information on K-12 educational standards and curriculum framework documents.
