Gov. Davis Convenes
“Extraordinary Session”

CALIFORNIA GOV. GRAY DAVIS, earlier this week, opened the legislature's “extraordinary session” on education aimed at addressing what he says is the overwhelming need to improve the state's public education system.

Davis kicked off his legislative effort by sponsoring four bills to improve reading skills and hold teachers, principals and students more accountable. Davis said he wants to provide $444 million in new funding for his educational reform measures at the state's 8,000 public schools.

Take a closer look at this “extraordinary session” via articles from the Los Angeles Times and The Sacramento Bee.
