Certifiably Excellent
THE NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS, this week, announced the accreditation of nearly 1,000 teachers nationwide. Seventy-six percent, or 45 out of 59 teachers who attained National Board Certification in California, are currently working in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Furthermore, 33 of the 45 newly National Board Certified teachers were part of a National Board Support Network – a collaboration of the Los Angeles Educational Partnership, United Teachers Los Angeles and the LAUSD. In addition 17 of the 33 are active members of LAEP’s teacher networks.
The Support Network assisted candidates going through the National Board Certification process by providing six professional development seminars, facilitators for small groups and moral support.
