Oral History Assignment
- Student teams will read over this assignment sheet and divide the responsibilites in an equal and fair manner.
- Identify an appropriate subject for your interview.
- Make an appointment and reserve the equipment.
- Get a copy of the Oral History packet. Read the handouts and make notes in your notebook.
- Make a list of questions. Decide what it is that your team still needs to know about your group. Will this person be able to answer your questions? Discuss with the teacher your questions, your subjects background, and what you hope to learn from this subject. Obtain teachers signature on your questions. Be prepared to discuss good interviewing techniques with the teacher.
- Decide who will be operating the equipment and make sure the Tech Team gives you all the instruction needed to get a good quality interview. Be sure and remember to CHARGE THE BATTERIES.
- Look at the video clips that show good interviewing techniques. Discuss the interviewers techniques in a paragraph in your notebook.
- Conduct and record your interview.
- Transcribe your interview.
- Ask a member of the Tech Team to get the Zip disk that holds all the interview transcriptions. He/she can help you copy your transcription onto the Zip disk if you dont know how.
- Submit a copy of your transcription and your video or audio tape to the teacher. The teacher will award points for the interview assignment. Team members will decide how points are to be divided. All team members must agree and sign their name to an agreement of point distribution. Unsolvable conflicts should be brought to the teacher, but teacher intervention results in a loss of a minimum of five points.
