Teacher Networks advance teaching professionalism through a core set of instructional principles and by helping develop school cultures that lead to high quality teaching and training. Networks strengthen teacher knowledge and skill and serve as a powerful tool for professional growth and development. About 3,000 network teachers take part annually in ongoing discussions about classroom subjects, instructional strategies and professional issues. LAEPs Teacher Networks include subject areas: Humanitas and Target Science. These are described in separate information pages. In addition, LAEPs Teacher Networks program consists of two types of professional networks: the Teacher Practitioner Project and Cross-School Networks.
The Teacher Practitioner Project provides experienced teacher practitioners who coach or provide technical assistance for other teachers. Teacher practitioners work closely with teachers at schools to improve their practice over time.
