LAEP Staff Discuss School Readiness at 2000 PEN Conference

"Too many children come to school unprepared to learn," said LAEP Family Care Manager Amy to a group of educators from around the country attending the 2000 Public Education Network (PEN) Conference in Washington DC. "One of the ways to overcome this through a partnership with parents and the community."

Rice, and Family Care staff members Josefina Sapriza and Nancy Villarreal, spoke about "Academic Readiness: Addressing the Developmental Needs of Children." The address examined the ever-increasing role of schools in linking students and their families to service providers to meet basic needs.

Actually three conferences in one, the three-day conference November 12, 13 and 14 in Washington DC provided interactive sessions and dynamic keynote presentations with thought-provoking, nationally recognized experts.
