More Than 1,000 Students Sign Scholarship Agreements, Compacts

Members of the Los Angeles Educational Partnership’s Family Care program joined more than 800 volunteers in Project GRAD’s “Walk for Success” October 28. Volunteers visited the homes of nearly 2,500 students and their parents in the San Fernando/Pacoima area to inform them about the scholarship opportunities available through Project GRAD and encourage their support for student academic achievement.

More than 500 ninth graders signed agreements that will give them scholarships of up to $6,000 when they graduate from San Fernando High School upon completion of program criteria. About 1,100 sixth graders and kindergarteners and their parents signed agreements that establish a commitment by the parents, the school and Project GRAD Los Angeles to support the students’ academic preparation for college.
