LAEP to End LALCNet, OCLCNet Internet Service

After more than five years of pioneering service as an Internet Service Provider (ISP), the Los Angeles Educational Partnership will discontinue its dial-up Internet service at the end of this year.

"When LAEP first became an ISP in 1995, our goal was to provide basic computer knowledge and skills to educators who desired to use technology in their teaching practice and professional development. Providing low-cost Internet access was an essential part of achieving that goal and we are proud to say we have done so," said Susan Way-Smith LAEP president and CEO.

The changing landscape of telecommunications has made high-quality Internet access more readily available and therefore, LAEP feels it is leaving subscribers with various ISP choices that will make it possible for its subscribers to continue to use the Internet, Way-Smith said.
