I Was a "Principal for a Day"

ON MARCH 30, NEARLY 300 women and men from the worlds of business and entertainment fanned out to schools across Los Angeles and became principals for a day. Some participants took attendance, others facilitated staff meetings while others supervised recess and met with students, teachers and parents. But whatever their backgrounds and duties that day, most came away with valuable learning experiences by serving as a "Principal for a Day."

"My visit was enjoyable throughout the day. My questions were answered and I felt welcome," said Carolyn Hood, Director, Credential Office, College of Education at California State University Northridge, about her experience visiting London High School in Van Nuys.

For many PFD participants, the day was filled with anticipation, surprise, enlightenment and inspiration. As a result, many participants have answered the call to action and offered their assistance in one form or another to "their school." We have compiled some of their comments.
