Updated 5:00 p.m. PST LEARN Forum to Discuss Past, Future Issues Los Angeles Unified School District LEARN schools are invited to send representatives to a forum in early April that will celebrate their past accomplishments and discuss plans for the future. Those participating in "LEARN 2000, Taking LEARN into the 21st Century" will have a chance to discuss school reform strategies with national, district and local school change leaders as well as explore new opportunities for networking with their school "families" and improving student achievement in literacy. Sponsored by the LAUSD School Reform Office, LEARN/LAAMP and UCLA School Management Program, the forum will take place from 4 to 8:30 p.m. April 7 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Guest speakers scheduled to attend include Robin Kramer, interim president, LEARN/LAAMP Regional School Reform Alliance and D. Michael Abrashoff, commander, United States Navy. LAUSD Interim Superintendent Ramon Cortines is also expected to attend. Schools are invited to bring a leadership team of four school representatives including parents and classified staff.
