Conference to Explore Teacher Recruitment, Retention

Recruiting New Teachers, Inc., a national non-profit organization devoted to developing a strong, diverse teacher workforce and improving teacher recruitment policies and practices, will be sponsoring Conference 2000: Finding and Keeping Quality Teachers - New Possibilities this spring in Boston, Masachusettes.

The conference, which will take place at the Cambridge Royal Sonesta Hotel March 23-25, will present strategies for teacher recruitment and retention, including discussion of related statewide reform.

Sponsored by the DeWitt Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund and the Ford Foundation, and in partnership with the National Education Association, the conference will provide teacher educators, policymakers, personnel directors, and others with the opportunity to share and exchange resources, showcase program models, and attend a variety of facilitated discussions.

RNT has also planned three simultaneous site visits in the Boston area to see successful Boston teacher recruitment and development programs at work. To learn more about Conference 2000, visit the RNT Web site at http://www.rnt.org/quick/press.html.
